Brother SV-70

Brother Japan just announced a second model in its SV Document Viewer line.  The SV-70 has a 9.7" E-ink screen, the same size screen as its predecessor, the SV-100B. Actually, aside from the model number I'd say the 2 models were identical. Based on the spec page, I would guess that the SV-70 will share all of the abilities of the SV-100B.

The SV-100B was released last March only in Japan. From what I can tell the SV-70 is also going to be limited to Japan. That's a shame, because it has  it has a number of features that would interest a business customer. It comes with DRM software that allows the end user to lock a document to a specific unit. I don't know of any other ebook reader  that has that level of document control.

The SV-70 will be available on 20 February 2010. MSRP wasn't provided.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
