Spring Design releases more details on the Alex

This has probably been up for a few days, but I think I'm the first to notice. The product page for the Alex is up on the Spring Design website. Based on what I I've read, I'd say that the Alex probably has a better developed interface than the Nook. You can certainly do more with the touchscreen. Also, the Alex will have access to the Android Market. That could turn the Alex into a real Andriod tablet, not just an ebook reader.

Hardware specs:

  • 6" E-ink screen, 600x800
  • 3.5" LCD screen, 480x320
  • 256MB RAM
  • 2GB flash
  • Wifi
  • speaker, microphone built in
  • weight 11Oz

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
