There went my April Fools Day Joke

A Chinese blog noticed that there is a 6" epaper reader that looks like an Apple knockoff. Yes, I know Apple doesn't have one, but it really does look like it was made by Apple. I was saving this device so I could leak photos as part of an April Fools Day Joke. Oh, well.

I had found what I think is the same device here and here. I don't have one yet, and I'm not sure who makes it. The blog is reporting the manufacturer as Yinlips. There is no reason to suppose they are wrong.

Here are the specs:

• 6" E-ink touch screen
• 800 x 600 resolution, 16 level grayscale
• 64MB RAM
• SD card slot (up to 4GB)
• FBReader
• Audio format supported: MP3
• Photo format: Jpeg, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIFF
• earphones jack

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
