FBReader Now Available for the Irex DR800

At first I was going to report this as simply new software, but then I realized something. There has been a third party release of FBReader for each of Irex's ereaders: the Iliad, DR1000, and DR800. What is wrong with Irex? Is their software is so bad that users take the time to offer an alternative? Also, given that this has happened twice before, why didn't the DR800 ship with FBReader already installed? Apparently Irex can't respond to the market.

  1. Over on TeleRead, we mention Smart Bitches’ review of the Irex. They apparently don’t like it very much, and part of that might well be due to the software it ships with.
