PVI to expand EPD screen production in China

Digitimes are reporting that International (PVI) is planning for an increase in screen production. Prime View PVI is going to invest $500m to expand their factories in Yangzhou, China.

"PVI plans to invest US$500 million to turn Yangzhou, China into a hub for EPD production. PIV's investment will cover all sectors from the upstream material supply to the downstream device development, said company chairman Scott Liu. PVI also hopes to attract more EPD-related investment to Yangzhou from other companies", Liu said.

They've also announced partnerships with China-based fanshu.com and Phoenix Publishing & Media Network for content development.

"PVI will help promote the e-book download platform of fanshu.com, a popular site of the China-based Founder Group. Vendors who use the E-Ink EPD to produce e-book readers will be given access to to fanshu.com", PVI noted.

According to PVI, fanshu.com has 600k titles available for download, making it one of the largest collection of Chinese-language books. Fanshu is expected to add about 100k new titles each year.
