Ebooks are a hit in Barnet, UK

I found an interesting article in a local London (UK) paper. The London Borough of Barnet are boasting that they've lent 1k ebooks in the 3 months their digital library has been in operation. That's quite an impressive figure, given that they only have 585 ebook titles listed. The digital library is provided in partnership with Overdrive, and the supported formats include Adobe DE Epub and PDF.

Overdrive has partnerships with digital libraries in 11 countries. Is your local library is one of them? If you're not sure, you can check the Overdrive website. They have a searchable list of all library partners.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
