New e-reader concept

I came across this new ereader from Yanko Designs. As you can see, it's a flexible screen ereader that rolls up into a tube when not in use.

I'm not sure it qualifies as a new design, though. I've seen a similar design used as a prop in an SF movie. I'm pretty sure that movie was Red Planet, but I could be wrong.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. It kind of reminds me of the late Readius by Polymer Vision. It was more of a fold-able screen than roll-able. A 115 gram shirt-pocket e-reader with a 5″ screen and 3G connectivity to RSS and Email was a pretty good concept. They even had working prototypes.
