Pandigital Novel up for pre-order – NOW in stores

UPDATE: After we posted this we got word that Kohl's had the Novel both on their site and in their stores. I can confirm both details. At my local Kohl's the Novel was behind the jewelry counter.

I've been looking for a place to buy the Pandigital Novel when it comes out. I guess the only online store it is currently available for pre-order at JC Penny. When you put it in your shopping cart it reveals the fact that the item is back-ordered and isn't expected until 6/23/2010. Just a heads up for people interested. Maybe other retailers will carry it soon?

It's selling for $249, which is $50 more than MSRP. Do you know what might be a better investment? for the aPad iRobot Android Tablet. You can find them all over eBay right now from $165 to over $200. It seems there is some active development going on and there's a possibility that we might see a future Android 2.1 firmware. I found info over on the great new site, SlateDroid.

  1. They’re currently available at Kohls (go to customer service as they aren’t out on the floor yet until the big event on June 9th) and Bed Bath and Beyond online. All other stores will have them after June 7th. I got mine yesterday and can’t say that I’m in the love. The screen is not every responsive but I am updating the firmware now and maybe it will be alot better.

  2. Did the firmware help at all? I called the Kohls in the area and no one at customer service or the electronics department had a clue what I was talking about.

At my local store it was behind the jewelry counter.

I haven’t tried the firmware update yet. I’ll go do that now.

  3. There were two versions of the Novel being released. A white one with 1 GB of internal memory, and a black one with 2 GB of internal memory. The Kohl’s website says that the version of the Novel they are selling has 2 GB and the pictures show a black unit, so that may explain the $50 price difference.
