Some random ideas for ebooks

Kevin Rose of Digg just posted a video on Youtube, and he has a bunch of ideas for enhancing ebooks. Most of his suggestions are all that revolutionary.

  1. character bios (could be done now)
  2. shared annotations (Copia will do this)
  3. lend an ebook ( like the Nook)
  4. statistics page  - This one could be neat. He proposes a dynamic page that changes as you proceed through the book.
  5. rich media
  6. ebook club (Copia, again)

One thing I will say is that I like the UI in the demo. It’s better than most I’ve seen.

Also, did you notice that the ebook is Foundation, and the character bio appears to be from Lord of the Rings? LOL

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
