Pixel Qi DIY kit now available

Pixel Qi is now offering their dual mode screen as a DIY kit. The only size available is 10.1" (I'm waiting to hear back from Pixel Qi about other screen sizes), and it's going for $275. Ouch.

The neat thing about this Pixel Qi screen is that it has a standard LCD mode and a low-power, reflective mode. This is one of the few LCD screens you can take outside and use in direct sunlight.

I wonder how the user is going to switch modes?

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
