Archos will demo 5 new tablets at IFA

Fortunately for us, they're already on the Archos website. I'm going to pass on the 2 tiny tablets for the moment, and just cover the 3 larger ones.I don't think of the 2.8" and 3.4" devices as tablets. They're PDAs or PMPs or something. If they are tablets then so is the iPod Touch.

First, I want to note what they have in common. All 3 run Android 2.2 on an Cortex A8 1 GHz CPU with graphic accelerator. They all come with Wifi (b/g/n), Bluetooth, a speaker, microphone, USB host, HDMI out, and an accelerometer.

I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these.

  1. I’ve had mostly good experiences with Archos devices going back to my first PMP I bought from them so many years ago.

I was looking to get the Archos 32 for a portable media player when it became available, but checking out the specs of the 43….I may go for it instead. I like the USB host mode and HDMI output.

Also looking to replace the Archos 7HT I got for my mother for use mostly as an e-reader, since the 7HT can’t run any of the commercial e-reader apps. The 70 might be a good choice. Toss up between it and the Cruz Reader at the moment. The Flash version will actually be a bit lighter than the 7HT is, the hard drive version only 12 grams more than the HT.

Now I need to look and decide how the Cruz Tablet will measure up to the Archos 101. I like the larger screen size and higher resolution of the Archos, but I have to say I like the Cruz’s support for an external mic for several reasons.
The dual cameras of the Archos is interesting also. And shipping with Froyo is another selling point for the Archos.

Any info on when they will be shipping?
