Weltbild to sell Aluratek Libre

There's this about a turbulent market: the smart thrive.

Aluratek is a small consumer electronics company based in California. They have quite a few products, but just the one ereader, the Aluratek Libre. TBH, I expected Aluratek to abandon the Libre once the price war started. It's an okay ereader, but its best value was the price. The price drops we've seen in the past couple months took that away.

The Libre didn't die, and I am a little surprised.

First it was picked up by Borders, and now it's going to be sold by the German publisher and bookstore chain Weltbild. Publishing Perspectives are reporting that Weltbild will announce the formal launch of the Aluratek Libre at Frankfurt Book Fair. The retail price has been set at 99.99€ ($136).

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
