Augen’s Espresso Firma showed up at Ceatec 2010

Akihabara News found this Android tablet at Ceatec this past week.  It doesn't quite look the same as the Espresso Firma I showed you a few days ago, but the resemblance is striking. Here's how Akihabara News described this tablet:

MUPEN of M707, an Android 2.1 table with a 7” resistive touch panel including the company Smart Pen technology (Powered by Pegasus) that will convert everything you are writing on a block note to a nice digital note.

"Smart Pen technology" sounds a lot like what the EF is supposed to be able to do. You use the special pen to write on paper and the tablet records the strokes and translates them into a graphic image.

This tablet was found in the Yifang booth, and based on the similar pen system on their website I think they developed it originally.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
