Bebook Club up for preorder in Australia

Word just came through Twitter that the Australia affiliate of Bebook are now taking pre-orders for the Bebook Club, a 6" ereader. It's selling for $269 AUD and it ships with a USB cable and the manual (but no case, ouch).

The Club is a close relative of the Bebook Neo, only without the Wifi and touchscreen. It has support for a wide variety of formats including MP3, Mobi, Epub, and PDF. It also supports Adobe DE DRM.

I'm somewhat relieved to see this announcement. Bebook had been awfully quiet since the Club was launched, and I was beginning to worry that they'd gone into receivership.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
