Viewsonic Viewpad 7 now available from

Do you know how everyone slows down while driving past a car accident? The other drivers are gawking at the spectacle, and this is normal human behavior. Viewsonic just had a 1 tablet collision where they wrapped their tablet around a telephone pole.The Viewpad 7 is listed on Amazon for $599. Yes, it's selling for $100 more than the iPad Wifi.

Now that you've gotten past the WTF did they do that reaction, I think you should take a close look at the specs.  It's not fair to compare this to the Wifi iPad because the Viewpad 7 has 3.5G as well as Wifi and Bluetooth.  That means the Viewpad 7 is actually $30 less than its closest iPad competitor.

For that $30 you lose some screen real estate, but you gain 2 cameras, Android v2.2, a light sensor, and the Android Market. That could be a fair trade.

  1. WVGA, ugh.

    How much is 3G worth? The Archos 70 is $325 cheaper without 3G (also without a rear-facing camera) but equivalent multi-touch screen, WiFi + Bluetooth etc. I don’t see how the huge premium is justified.

    Btw, loose->lose.
