Now that was fast.Newpad.cn got their hands on this new, still unnamed convertible tablet. (No, seriously, they have actual product photos, not just photoshops like the one at right.) This baby is based on a 8.9" (1024x600) touchscreen with a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, camera, Wifi, and a 160GB HD. It's running Win7, of course. Ports include network, SD card, USB host, VGA, headphone, and microphone. There's no word on price or release date.
Unlike some of the gadget bloggers who've posted on this, I like this one. This was obviously inspired by the Duo, but I think it might actually be the better device. The Duo has a larger edge that takes away from screen real estate. This baby doesn't.
Is it still a clone when the knockoff improves on the design?
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
