Ectaco to announce 2 new e-readers at CES

That's what they're hinting on their Facebook page:

Ectaco will be unavailing 2 new gadgets at CES this year that will change the eReader game for sure! Don't forget to stop by our booth. South Hall Upper Level & Connector - Booth #36166

I asked and they sent me a PDF of the brochure for CES. You're looking at one of the 2 new ereaders, the Jetbook K-12. It ships with support for 12 formats, a graphing calculator app, and a periodic table of elements. Maybe I shouldn't have shown you the stand (all 3 items are removable), but I wanted to make sure I included the item on the right. It's an OCR scanner. I'm not sure if this one works directly with the Jetbook or with a PC.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. I’m curious as to what sort of screen it is. Does it talk about that in the brochure?

  2. The name “suggests” they’re going after the educational market. 😉
I’m betting it’s LCD, hopefully color.

  3. Now, that one fits perfectly with my Sonim telephone!

  4. They’ve set a new standard for fugly and garish.
