Astak have a new tablet

No ereader news from Astak this year, but they do have a tablet. I just came across a 10" Android tablet running v2.2 with 4GB Flash, Wifi (b/g), an accelerometer, 2 cameras, speaker, microphone, and HDMI out. It's specced with 6 hours battery life. It's due out next quarter and the price has not been set.

Do you want to know something rather odd? Astak are sharing their booth with Netronix again. I was under the impression that there shouldn't be a Netronix anymore. One important story from the last CES was that Pocketbook and Netronix merged their ereader divisions. It looks like they broke up. That was fast. I think they may have spent more time discussing the merger than they did actually being merged. (I'm looking into it.)

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. My understanding is that Netronix and Pocketbook set up a joint venture, not a merger. It may have fallen apart or not, but even when it was offically on, Netronix was still going to build readers for others.
