Kindle Store coming to Germany?

That's what it looks like to me. Johannes of Lesen.net uncovered a job posting for Amazon's Munich operation. The "Head of Content acquisition Kindle DE"  is wanted because:

Amazon is looking for an experienced professional to lead our Kindle efforts with German book publishers and other providers supplying content for Kindle, Amazon's portable reader. This individual will be responsible for building and managing a vendor management team that will work with our book publishing partners to increase the number of titles available on Kindle.

Yeah, I'd say that they're going to open a Kindle Store in Germany.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. Frankly, they be mad not to. It’s a MASSIVE market.
Worth entering even for a small slice of it!
    Eoin

  2. After hopping over to GB that had to follow.
I wonder how long the “Buchpreisbindung” in Germany will prevail. If it’s kept up, Amazon will have to rule the market by usability alone and not also over the price. But – seeing the mess the local ebook-retailers and big publishers are making of trying to buy an ebook over here in Germany – that may well be enough ground to rule from.
