Oyo 3G e-reader indefinitely delayed

Thalia just posted a status  update on their Facebook page. The Oyo 3G, a 6" ereader that was due to ship in the next couple days, has been delayed. Apparently the latest version of the firmware is broken so they won't be shipping the Oyo.

we announced that the OYO WLAN +3 G on 02/10/2011 has its launch. The most recent audit of the OYO WLAN +3 G, we have encountered unforeseen technical problems. We regret to inform you that the launch of OYO Wireless G on time will be postponed indefinitely, since the quality standard according to our tests, unfortunately ... our quality is desired.

Now isn't that a surprise? Most companies would ship it and deny the problems.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. You do know t hat the English text is not a translation of the German text that you quoted, don’t you?

Is that from further down in the press release?

  2. Yup, the information is further down from that German quote – but it is correct ^^.
