MIReader M8 Android tablet coming to Russia

I've just come across another tablet that will be released in Russia in the next few weeks. The MIReader M8 has an 8" screen (well, duh) and it runs Android v2.1.

The touch screen is capacitive with a resolution of 800x600. It has a 2MP camera, microphone, 4GB Flash storage, Wifi, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and support for an external 3G modem.

Ebook support includes Epub, PDF, FB2, TXT, CHM, HTML, and DOC. Video and audio support includes MKV (H.264 HP), AVI, RM / RMVB, FLV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, AAC, OGG, AC3, and WAV. It doesn't have access to the Android market, however.

It's selling now for 9990 rubles (~$341 USD), and if you want a cover it will cost you an extra 800 rubles.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
