New Pandigital Novel shows up on QVC

Pandigital decided to surprise us today with a new Android tablet. Apparently they decided there weren't enough Novel tablets out there, so they released this one. This Novel is black, obviously, but if you look closely you'll see that the hardware looks a lot like the white Novel. In fact, I did a little digging and I found the FCC paperwork. This tablet uses the same FCC ID as the Cruz Reader which was released last fall. And the Cruz Reader has the same hardware as the white Pandigital Novel.

That means this tablet has a resistive touchscreen to go with the 7" (800x600) screen. It also has 2GB Flash (in an internal microSD card slot), a SD card slot, Wifi, and it's running Android v2.0.

As I said above, it's basically identical to the white Novel and the Cruz Reader, so the main deciding factor will be price. You can get this one from QVC for $139, but you should be able to find the white Novel or the Cruz Reader for less than that.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
