The Daily to launch in Europe by June

Rupert Murdoch is a believer in failing big. That's why he's going to launch the Daily in as many countries as he can before it implodes.

Jonathan Miller, CDO at News Corporation, was speaking on a panel at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit when he was asked about the future of The Daily. He said that this tablet only newspaper would be launched in Western Europe by the end of June, and that the European launch was dependent on the geographical roll-out of Apple's subscription model.

The Daily will also start charging the US subscribers next week, all 18 of them.

Did you notice that there was no mention of the Android app? Interesting.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
