Kindle comes to Radio Shack

The Amazon Kindle has shown up on the Radio Shack website today. The Shack is carrying only 3 of the 6" models, and there's no mention of the 9.7" Kindle DX.  The missing Kindle 3 should come as no surprise; it's the K3 3G with special offers (the Kindeal 3G).  I'm not surprised by its absence because it was only announced a few weeks ago. It's probably not in the retail pipeline yet.

The K3 3G, K3 Wifi, and the Kindeal Wifi are selling for the same price as Amazon and they are available in-store only at 4,486 Radio Shack locations across the USA.

Curiously enough, they also have a pretty good selection of cases and batteries for the Kindle, but you can only get them online.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. Reading this post and the previous about Makro selling Kindle, it’s so curious Kindle DX was not included in their stocks. Maybe Kindle Dx is over? A new Kindle DX in the horizon? A lot of questions without answers… yet.
