The Economist is now available on Android

The Economist's long awaited Android app is now available in the Android Market, nearly 10 months after the iOS app. Readers will now be able to get this weekly news magazine as single issues or as a free part of their print subscription.

It sounds like it might be worth getting. Content in the app draws on the months of experience from producing the iOS app, and it’s been formatted to flow better on screens of various sizes. The app includes the audiobook version of the articles, and you can switch between text and audio on the fly.

The app is free, and readers get the editor’s weekly selection of six must-read articles as  a freemium. You can buy either a subscription or individual issues ($6). Like most magazines, The Economist gives print subscribers free access to the apps while the subscription lasts.
