Journo Ipsum is the Future of Blogging

Have you ever heard of lorem ipsum? It's a general term for random placeholder  text that's used to fill space when creating a layout. If you've ever seen a website under development and been puzzled by the gibberish, that text was lorem ipsum.

Someone at Neiman Labs (in a moment of weakness) thought it would be a great idea to come up with a custom variation of lorem ipsum just for tech blogs. He was inspired by all the other variations, including food based (meat, fish, and veggies), TV theme songs, and even Charlie Sheen bon mots (that one just quotes Mr. Sheen instead of generating text).

Here's a sample of what the Journo Ipsum looks like. Click the link for more.

The good news here is that this will reduce my workload considerably. I can just add 4 or 5 new words and then call it good.

Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. I think you should do a bit more research before writing stuff like that – lorem ipsum is “used” nowadays as a placeholder, but in reality it is part of a passage from Cicero, specifically “De finibus bonorum et malorum”, a treatise on the theory of ethics written in 45 BC. The original reads, Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit . . . (There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain …).
