Wiley to Publish "Kobo Vox For Dummies"

I was browsing over at MobileRead earlier today when I came across a mention of a new book. John Wiley & Sons will be adding Kobo Vox For Dummies to their extensive list of for Dummies titles. This book is due out in July, and it will be joining similar guides to the Nook Tablet, Kindle Fire as well as for the leading ereaders on the market.

There’s no word yet on the ebook edition but it likely will be released at the same time.

Normally I’d like to make all sorts of snide jokes about the appropriateness of the book’s title and Vox owners, but in this case I think I will hold off. You see, I don’t think tech books like this are worth buying. I’ve read several for Dummies titles over the years and they’ve never told me anything useful that I couldn’t figure out on my own. I’ve long since stopped reading them because I have found that Google is nearly as good a source of info.

What do you think?

"I’ve read several for Dummies titles over the years and they’ve never told me anything useful that I couldn’t figure out on my own. "

That’s because you’re a tech-savvy person, as am I. However, there are many people in this world who still need a lot of hand-holding when it comes to technology (my wife and mother in law are among them), and, believe me, these people need all the help they can get!

We’ve just discovered that you have abandoned "Kobo Vox for Dummies". My wife and I both got our Kobo Voxs because your book was listed as having been published in November 2012.

Now we’re left high and dry. May we at least ask why?

It’s not my book.
