The Morning Coffee – 27 June 2012

Here are a few stories to read this morning.

  • Califa Lands $325,000 in Funding for Ebook Ownership Project; Deal Close With Smashwords (The Digital Shift)
  • Euro Book Chiefs: E-Book VAT Must be Lowered (TNW)
  • Pulse Adds Premium Subscriptions, Launches Innovative Partnership With WSJ (TechCrunch)

  • Pulse vs. Flipboard: Which will win, subscriptions or ads? (GigaOm)
  • These Book Covers Are Custom Made to Match Your Library (Wired.com)
  • The image at right is from the Wired article. It5 talks about a company that offers a set of dust covers for books so you can build a scene on your bookshelf. I would find this sad if not for the fact that books as decoration has been around for years. Google "books by the foot" for an example.

    About Nate Hoffelder (11582 Articles)
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
