New Rumor Puts iPad Mini Launch Event on 23 October

It looks like Apple made a terrible horrible mistake 2 days ago. The tenth of October was the day that Apple was supposed to send out invites for the iPad Mini launch event, only nothing happened. Was this some cruel joke? Did Apple's email server crash? How Will the Caped Crusader escape this time?

What ever the case, there's a new rumor today from All Things D.  According to their always reliable sources, the iPad Mini event is now supposedly scheduled for the 23rd. It's going to be a small and intimate affair attended by only a few hundred bloggers and watched by slightly less than a third of the population of the web.

That’s a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, so this is a bit of a break with recent tradition. It also happens to be just three days prior to the street date for Microsoft’s new Surface tablet.

Sources declined to specify where the event is to be held, and I’ve not been able to confirm a location.

But it’s likely to be at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium. The company has debuted a number of important products there in the past — OS X Lion, a next-generation MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S — so there’s plenty of precedent.

Mike Cane posted a similar prediction a few days ago, and it looks like his ability to predict the latest rumor is spot on.

  1. I know it’s unfair, but I have never been able to shake the feeling that everything Apple has slowly been falling apart post-Steve.
