After debuting to a private audience at South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW) Los Angeles-based WYSIWYG social Web publishing platform Needly is pulling back the curtain and launching to the public today. The general idea is to allow anyone, regardless of technical ability to design any website from scratch using drag and drop tools. In addition to this design and publishing functionality, the platform also includes social following of other content creators – inside and outside the Needly network – and a RSS-based reader solution. (Yes, another one!)
The news that ther was yet another GR alternative naturally caught my attention, so I decided to try it and post a short review.
The thing is, I signed up for Needly about an hour ago and have been trying to ferret out their GR alternative. I still have not found it. It's mentioned on the Needly website, so I am pretty sure it actually exists, but for the life of me I don't know where I should be looking. If anyone can find this news reader service please do me the favor of leaving a comment. I'll update this post as soon as I get new data.
Update: A reader showed me that he could subscribe to a feed. Bbased on his image I figured out that the Needly feed reader is accessed from the same Dashboard that you would use to build websites. The trick is that you need to click the subscribe button on the right to add a feed. I can't get it to work, unfortunately.
Please don't giggle too much at my oversight; this is a rather unusual design decision and I was frankly expecting to find the feed reader in its own menu.
