Amazon Launches Jet City Comics

jet city comicsAmazon has just launched another publishing imprint. Jet City Comics, which will be helmed by Alex Carr, will focus on comics and graphic novels.

The new imprint is launching today with the first issue of its first title, Symposium #1 by Christian Cameron and Dmitry Bondarenko. New titles will be released starting in October including Meathouse Man, an original comic from George R.R. Martin, as well as 2 graphic novel prequels to his Game of Thrones series.

Jet City Comics is also going to publish a graphic novel adaptation of Wool by Hugh Howey, and that too is due out starting in October. It’s going to be released as a Kindle Serial, and later it will be republished as a graphic novel. Symposium, which set in the universe of The Mongoliad, is also going to be published serially and later republished as a graphic novel. Later this year it will be joined by 5 other comic book titles also set in the universe of The Mongoliad.

Alex Carr had previously been working for Amazon Publishing as a content acquisition editor and has contributed regularly to Omnivoracious, one of Amazon’s book blogs.  For some time now he’s been writing a weekly series on graphic novels.

Jet City Comics is Amazon’s 12th publishing imprint, and it joins Kindle Singles, 47North, AmazonCrossing, AmazonEncore, Montlake Romance, Thomas & Mercer, Little A, Day One, Two Lions, Skyscape, and the recently announced launched Kindle Worlds.
