Hands On with the Wiko Highway 5″ Smartphone (video)

Wiko 17adf8e1a03bf35336814e0298556301[1]is a name that is much better known in France that the US; they're the 3rd largest smartphone maker in France and as you can see in this video they can produce some pretty cool gadgets. Charbax caught up with Wiko at Mobile World Congress last week, and they showed him their most expensive smartphone. The Wiko Highway retails for 350 euros, which is a surprisingly low given the specs.

The Highway is a well-built, glass-clad smartphone which only just launched in France. It has a 5" display (1920 x 1080 screen resolution) and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on the new 2GHz 8-core Mediatek MT6592 CPU with 2GB RAM, 16GB Flash storage, and both a 16MP camera and an 8MP camera.

At 7.7mm and 154 grams this is a thin and light phone, leading me to wonder exactly where Wiko put the 2350mAh battery battery.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. Hey Nate Hoffelder, quick question though… does the wiko highway have led notification for texts, email, calls like is common with Blackberry handsets?
