The Pop-Up Book of Phobias Will Probably Give You Nightmares (video)

pop-up book of phobiasAs much as I like ebooks, there are times where paper is the better option.

Take pop-up books, for example. While you can add animation to an ebook app, it doesn't quite have the same impact or immediacy as a pop-up book. And as you can see in the video below, The Pop-Up Book of Phobias is plenty scary for a paper book.

This book shows a number of fear-inducing scenes, in all their glorious detail. It is so effective that even if you don't have a phobia before reading this book, you might after.

The book came out in 2009, but it only just crossed my desk today. It costs $54 on Amazon, in case you're interested.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
