About Nate Hoffelder (11463 Articles)
Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."

  1. The article in the Guardian (Filipinos/books) would have been a hell of a lot more powerful had it actually gone on to name some non-English culture books (children’s or otherwise). Unless I missed something, the article completely misses its own point. If they/she wants us to get out more and read other cultures, it has to start with some suggestions. I blog all kinds of books and would have loved to see a list of “possibles” from other cultures rather than a rant of “we need to do better.”

Maybe I need more tea this morning. I’m a tad grumpy.

    • One thing I’m enjoying on the Kindle side are all the affordable translations Amazon is bringing over. Last I heard, they were actually the top publisher of translated titles.
Where there is a vacuum, there is money to be made. And if there is money, Amazon will jump in.:)
