Amazon Opens Two Kiosks in Paris

amazon la defense kiosk parisFresh from opening a bookstore in Seattle, Amazon has opened two pop up retail kiosks in malls in Paris.

Several sites report Amazon has opened kiosks in the Parly 2 and la Défense shopping malls. The retailer is selling all three Kindle models and the Fire tablet, as well as Amazon gift cards.

These kiosks are a cross between the kiosks that an Amazon partner opened in Brazil in 2013, and the pop up stores that Amazon opened in San Francisco, Sacramento, and China. The one that has been photographed really isn’t very big compared to what we’ve seen of the pop up stores Amazon opened in China and SF. It really is just a kiosk:

The Paris kiosks have demo units you can try, as well helpful staff who can show off the many software features. But what you won’t find, according to reports, are Amazon’s other hardware like the Echo and Fire TV.

And you also won’t find the kiosks there for very long; one kiosk staffer has confirmed that it will shut down at the end of January.
