Onyx’s New eReaders for 2016 (video)

onyx boox maxCharbax caught up with Chinese ereader maker Onyx at the HKTDC Electronics Fair earlier this month, and he got a look at several of Onyx’s current ereaders as well as an unannounced waterproof 6″ model.

Onyx’s first 13.3″ ereader, the Boox Max, is shown in the video, as well as both of Onyx’s latest 9.7″ ereaders, the Boox N96 and the Boox N96ML. The former has a dual touchscreen with both capacitive and electromagnetic stylus support. It’s the model which lacks a frontlight, while the ML version has a frontlight with support for a stylus.

All three models run Android on a 1GHz CPU with 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, Wifi, and a microSD card slot.

The Onyx Boox Max is up for pre-order from a German retailer for 585 euros and is expected to ship in the next few weeks. I reviewed one, briefly, and it’s not for everyone.

Both of the N96 models can be found on the Chinese retail site Banggood, but the smaller 6″ ereader shown in the second half of the video is not available anywhere just yet.

Someone over at MobileRead found the product page for that 6″ ereader. Onyx is calling it the Kepler. There’s going to be three models.
