Introducing the Hanvon Touchpad

The Hanvon Touchpad made its first appearance at CES. It's a 10" tablet running Windows 7 with a multi-touch capacitive screen. Here is a video from CES:

I've been waiting for some hard info before posting about this tablet.Today I finally got that info. This is not your average ebook reader. In fact, it's not an ereader at all. The Touchpad is a full fledged Tablet PC. The base model will have an Intel Atom CPU, 2 cameras (front and back), 2 USB ports, HDMI out, a 120GB hard disk, Wifi, and a graphics chip. The projected retail is $600, and it should be available in March.

I lost interest at the CPU and the hard disk. I would have gone for a Marvell chip, and flash storage. Battery life is going to be disappointing.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader: "I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
