New Indian ebookstore launched – with a twist

New Indian ebookstore launched - with a twist eBookstore I just came across bookGanga.com today. This is a small web bookstore that's recently expanded into ebooks. They currently stock 5900 title s in 3 languages (Marathi, English, and Hindi).

The ebooks from BookGanga are tied into  proprietary app. I've tried it and it's not worth installing. The number of free titles that you can get with it are limited, and I couldn't see a way to open my own ebooks. It also just wasn't very pleasant to use.

Here's the twist: this Indian ebookstore is headquartered in Pennsylvania (in the USA). This really shouldn't be a surprise, but it is rather curious.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:"I've been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It's a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog."
