New eReader pops up in the Philippines

New eReader pops up in the Philippines e-Reading Hardware Andrys Basten of KindleWorld  uncovered this ereader earlier today. This is an off brand ereader that's being sold in the Philippines for 3990 pesos (about $90). The company selling it, CDR King, is a chain of discount electronics stores, not a tech company, so I'd guess the design is from somewhere in China.

It has a 7" LCD screen, microSD card slot, 2GB Flash, an FM Radio, but no Wifi or touchscreen. The product page show a pretty impressive set of ebook, video, and audio support (including 720p video).

Sorry about the image quality; I can't find anything better.

Nate Hoffelder is the founder and editor of The Digital Reader:

“I’ve been into reading ebooks since forever, but I only got my first ereader in July 2007. Everything quickly spiraled out of control from there. Before I started this blog in January 2010 I covered ebooks, ebook readers, and digital publishing for about 2 years as a part of MobileRead Forums. It’s a great community, and being a member is a joy. But I thought I could make something out of how I covered the news for MobileRead, so I started this blog.”

  1. Found this on display in a CDR-King store in SM Bacolod, I’m hoping they will develop an upgraded version with wifi capability. As an e-book enthusiast, the price is just right.
