Hanvon N618 clears the FCC

This is an oldie but a goodie. Mike Cane tipped me to a FCC filing that I missed at the time.

One of Hanvon’s new 6″ ereaders cleared the FCC back in January. The N618 is based on E-ink Vizplex screen, not Pearl (but that might have changed). It has 4GB Flash storage, microSD card slot, a Wacom touchscreen sensor, and Wifi.

The N618 has been floating around for a while now. I saw it last year at DEA 2010, and it first appeared at CeBit a few months earlier. Hanvon had planned to get it on the US market last fall, but the ereader price war in June might have cooled their ardor.

P.S. I should probably clarify that the touchscreen isn’t actually made by Wacom. Hanvon make their own digitizer, but the technology functions quite similar to Wacom’s.
