Amazon Kindle now available in South African stores

Makro, a South African retailer, has just started carrying the Amazon Kindle in 2 of their stores. They plan to expand this to all stores by the end of the month.

That’s not much in the way of news, but just wait until you see the price. I couldn’t find one for the KDX or K3 Wifi, but the list price for the K3 3G is R2,499. That price is in South African rands, and it is about equal to $367 USD.

They’re charging almost double. Yeah, that’s going to go over well.
