This blog will be off of Facebook for a while

Last night I received a practical lesson in why you don’t depend on playing in someone else’s sandbox.

I was updated some posts last night, and for some reason known only to Facebook, they blocked the Facebook app I was using. This means I won’t be posting updates until Facebook decide to unblock the app. (I’ve already started the resolution process with Facebook, but that’s going to take a couple days.)

I really do not know why Facebook blocked the app; it wasn’t anything more than the bare minimum I needed to put updates on facebook. I set it up, and I know it didn’t do anything else. I also know that no one else could have used it, so there was no way for it to have been malicious.

Facebook did give a reason, but it doesn’t make much sense:

Your app XX has had some features limited because our automated systems detected that your app is receiving a high amount of negative user feedback. The disabled features are:

Publishing Feed Stories disabled

Why would anyone complain about my app? It’s just a little bit of code that does the one job.

If anyone knows the answer, please tell me.

Hmph. Can’t you use a Post to Facebook widget in the blog and use that? WP.com has automagic posting to FB and Twitter, but I have it turned off. To get the Twitter short URL, tho, I use the WP.com widget then copy and paste in Twitter and add whatever I want (I need the ID autocomplete).

I am using an automatic plug-in. I’d much rather get it working again than have to go through the hassle of finding a new method.

That sounds like what WP.com calls their widgets. Weird that you should be having a problem with that!

dlvr.it has been working pretty well for Liliputing and Mobiputing. It automatically grabs the latest posts from your blog and can post them to Twitter and/or Facebook.

I’m using Twitter Publisher for the one, but if I can switch to 1 plug-in doing both jobs I will certainly consider it. Thanks!
