The Guardian & Observer now available on the Kindle

The Guardian announced today that they’re offereing a new subscription option. You can now get The Guardian & Observer on your Kindle (it’s also available on the Kindle for Android app). It’s retailing for £9.99/$9.99 a month and you can buy a single issue for £.99/$.75. It’s available everywhere and they also plan to have IOS and Android apps coming out soon.

Wow. Did you notice the price disparity? UK subscribers are paying over 50% more that US subscribers. I knew that y’all would be charged more but that’s ridiculous.

For the Rest of the World it’s $17.95 a month or $1.95 per issue!

Well, of course it costs more. It costs a lot to ship those electrons all over the world.

Quite so!

I wonder if the Guardian will try to say that it’s Amazon that’s the cause of these extra charges; e.g. the extra cost of Whispernet outside of the U.S.?
