VIZIO VTAB1008 now shipping – $379

The VTAB1008 might still be listed for preorder on Amazon, but VIZIO have it ready to ship.

This is a mid-range Android tablet running v2.3 on a 1GHz CPU (single/dual core?). It has a middle of the road 8″ capacitive touchscreen, 2GB Flash storage, microSD card slot, Wifi(n)/Bluetooth/GPS, g-sensor, HDMI out, and speakers.

Actually, i;m not sure this qualifies as a mid-range tablet. We don;t know for sure what CPU it’s running, and that will seriously affect it’s standing. The other problem with this tablet is that it has just the 1 camera, a dinky little VGA webcam. That’s rather low compared to most tablets these days. And that goes double for a $400 tablet.

It looks almost exactly 100 dollars over-priced to me.

Yeah, Honeycomb devices are coming out at that price now since the price war is starting to heat up. Check out Best Buy this week.
