New Archos Arnova 8 clears the FCC

Brad Linder of Liliputing caught the latest Archos Arnova tablet sneaking through the FCC website. Some how I missed it so I’m glad he caught it.

It’s called the Arnova 8 G2. There are no specs listed in the manual, but my guess based on the name is that this tablet has an 8″ screen.

Also, the internal photos are viewable and they reveal a few details. This tablet is running on a Rockchip 2918 CPU and it has Wifi, microSD card slot, speaker, and a camera. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific; the pictures just don’t show that much.

That CPU is an interesting detail, btw. It means this tablet is likely the second-gen model that Archos promised when they unveiled the original Arnova 8. That would suggest that this tablet has a capacitive touchscreen and probably runs Android v2.3 Gingerbread.

The original tablet was disappointing when I reviewed in this spring. It had a poor quality 8″ resistive touchscreen and was running Android v2.1 on a Rockchip 2818 CPU. It had Wifi but no Bluetooth or a camera.
