Ebooks now 12% of sales at HarperCollins
Newscorp released their latest financial report yesterday (check your voicemail), and business has been good. NewsCorp’s publishing division – which is dominated by the company’s newspapers – reported sales up $225 million and segment operating income rising $74 million. Just like the previous reports, there’s no specific data on each of the parts of Newscorp, but HarperCollins did release a statement yesterday.
Ebooks now account for about 12% of US sales for this fiscal year. That’s down slightly from the last quarterly report, which placed ebooks at 19% of US sales for Q3. And it’s also a step down when compared to reports from Penguin and Simon & Schuster.
Of course, any figures from a recently ended quarter are too new to be considered reliable.
