Prestigio launched a new 8″ Gingerbread tablet

The European gadget company Prestigio have just unveiled the MultiPad 5080B, their latest Android tablet.

This looks like your fairly ordinary 8″ Android tablet, but it caught my eye because I’ve seen it before. Last week I posted about a pair of tablets on the FCC website. One of those tablets, the Next8, looks an awful lot like the MultiPad 5080B. ( That means that I now know the specs of the Next8.)

The MultiPad 5080B is described as having an 8″ (800×600) capacitive touchscreen, Wifi, 4GB Flash storage, a microSD card slot, and a 2MP camera. It’s running  android v2.3 on a Rockchip 2918 CPU. The CPU is running at 1GHz, so this should be a pretty zippy tablet.

There’s no mention of Android Market, and that’s what I expected. Prestigio are asking a retail of 199 euros, which is reasonable. All in all I have to say that this tablet looks interesting.  I’m rather looking forward to seeing it one day.
