The Morning Coffee 1 February 2012
Here are a few stories I'm reading this morning.
- 2011 Survey of Book-Buying Behavior (Verso Digital)
- The Daily After One Year: Some Lessons Learned (Digiday)
- Five unexpected nitpicks from a new Kindle Touch owner (CNet)
- Johannes Franzen: "Print Books Are Damaging to Society" (The Huffington Post)
- iPad a Solid Education Tool, Study Reports (Wired)
- Metro libraries, patrons unload on audiobooks full of glitches (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
- New Kindle Fire Android 4.0 ROM adds custom lock screen, bug fixes (Liliputing)
Speaking of that DBW survey: someone pointed out to me that the grpahics under “Principle Ways of Learning About New Titles” are weird. Look at “Personal recommendations; 49.2%” for example. The pie slice there is more like 25% of the circle. And if you add up the numbers, they don’t make sense. On that slide, the *numbers* add up to over 200%. Nice pie! Same problem with the following slide for “Typical Book-Buying Locations”.
Are the numbers bogus? Well, yeah. And so are the pies! đŸ™‚
