Please Excuse the Mess, Folks

If you visited this blog earlier this morning you might have noticed it was down. I’m still not sure what happened but something bad occurred at my hosting company this morning.

It’s so bad that I’m still digging out from the rubble. Right now my WordPress install is seriously borked and I don’t know how to fix it. There are several plugins not working, my posts aren’t automatically sending pingbacks (they are supposed to be).

If you want to see a visible sign of the problems, check out my homepage. The Morning Coffee post isn’t supposed to be at the top of the page.  I didn’t make it a sticky nor change the date or time. It just won’t move down like it is supposed to.

If anyone knows how to fix this (without reinstalling WordPress), please let me know. This is beyond anything I know how to cope with. And Arvixe, my hosting company, isn’t terribly technically competent at the best of times.

Help!

Update: I just reinstalled WordPress and it fixed most of the issues.

I think I may have been recently hacked. Anyway, the best thing to do is download a new wordpress install and then delete the existing wordpress files (except the wp-config.php) and then replace with the fresh install. Do the same with your plugins and your theme. If you have any customizations, set those files aside.

Based on your suggestion I tried an automatic reinstall of the latest version of WordPress. It seems to have fixed most of the problems.

Thanks!
