How to install Android Market on the Nextbook Next8se Android Tablet

The Nextbook 8SE is one of many budget tablets that ship without Android Market. This tends to limit their usefulness, but luckily I know of a simple way to fix the shortcoming by installing a limited version of Android Market.

This hack won’t let you update to Google Play and it’s missing the latest new sections (including music and video) but it will let you buy and install apps. It is far better than nothing. Here’s how you do it.

  1. Download this ZIP file to your computer.
  2. Open the Zip file to your computer and copy the contents to a folder on your Polaroid tablet via a USB cable. Then unplug your tablet.
  3. Once you’ve done that, open the file manager on your tablet and go to the folder where you put the files. Try to install the following apps in this order (double click on the files in order to run them):
  • OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
  • SetupWizard.apk
  • vending-3.1.3-signed.apk

As a 4th step you might want to press the home button, select the checkmark which says “open always with”, and then select Launcher. This will guarantee that whenever you press the home button you will see the home screen and not be prompted with a menu.

This technique worked for me, and while there are other ways to accomplish this goal I prefer to stick with this one. It’s easy.

Well, I followed the instructions, got the Market app, am asked if I want to add an account to the device, selected ( yes ) and it takes me back to the app screen.
Tried numerous times, restarted, still no-go……………..Thanks, Stan

I am having the same problem as Stan. I am unable to complete adding the google account. It asks if I want to add and when I select yes it just closes and goes back to the home page without any error. Is there a way to get past this?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

All I can suggest is that you reboot the tablet. If that doesn’t work then you can try a factory reset and then install the files again.

Sorry, but sometimes this just doesn’t work.

I’ve just bought an 8P12 on ebay and it works great and I tried the hack tip here for installing the market app, the app appears and just like you said it asks to add an account and when you click yes it goes right back to the app page. rebooted it and still does the same, I really want some apps on this thing like I do on my phone especially since I travel a lot. please help 🙁

I has same problem, but finished installing other apps to get further. JB_Play_Store wanted to replace an existing app, but ran into library issues (with the X application). Market won’t succeed at creating account; says no network, though Browser runs fine.

As someone mentioned previously, there has been a fundamental change in the Nextbook Premium 8SE (NEXT8P12) – the chipset is now AMLogic and Nextbook has really got it locked down hard. That is probably why this process no longer works for newer tablets. We are working on it, though – click the link above to follow our progress.
